The first NBS360 newsletter is now available, presenting the project’s objectives, partnership and first activities. NBS360 brings together 13 partners from eight countries to develop and upscale Nature-Based Solutions addressing water-related challenges across seven Mediterranean demonstration sites.
A central focus of the newsletter is the project’s kick-off meeting, held in Thessaloniki, Greece, on 24–25 June 2026. During the meeting, the partners presented the demonstration sites, identified their priority challenges and aligned their monitoring, data-collection and stakeholder-engagement activities.
The newsletter also introduces the project’s main innovations, including real-time environmental monitoring, a shared Digital Twin, an Intelligent Decision Support System, participatory governance, ecosystem-service assessments and a common scaling framework. These complementary approaches will connect scientific evidence, digital technologies, financing mechanisms and local communities.
UFZ presented the project’s harmonised typology for Nature-Based Solutions and the application of the IUCN Global Standard as a common framework for their implementation and assessment. As leader of Work Package 2, UFZ coordinates the monitoring, evaluation and demonstration of Nature-Based Solutions across the seven sites and assesses their feasibility for upscaling.
The newsletter also outlines the project’s upcoming activities, including participatory workshops at the demonstration sites, international project meetings, a Mediterranean Summer School and policy-oriented events.
